Our cover picture ...
... shows dark material on Vesta found near a series of craters known as the "Snowman". The ejected material is a complex mixture of different components. This dark material was probably transported out of the craters during the impact and also formed from dark impact melt when the impactor struck the surface. The Dawn mission at Vesta has been extended by another 40 days so that further investigations can be carried out. Dawn will not set off for the asteroid Ceres until 26 August.
