Our cover picture ...
… shows a bright Scorpiid meteor (the Scorpiids form one component of the Antihelion complex) at 01:02 UT on 13 May 2018. The radiant is located not far from bright Antares. Jürgen Rendtel spent the first half of May this year at the Izaña Observatory on Tenerife with surprisingly stable weather. This provided the opportunity for a long series of meteor observations. The camera with a fisheye lens was tilted slightly toward the southern horizon, because with exceptional refraction the Southern Cross can become completely visible (here already after the meridian transit of the "Cross" on 13.5., with the two bright stars α and ß Centauri near the horizon). As a result, the bright Milky Way sections in Scorpius and Sagittarius appeared in the picture.
