Systematic Halo Observation
The Meteor Working Group has been collecting continuous halo observations since 1978 and evaluates them from different perspectives. The monthly and annual evaluations can be found in the newsletter METEOROS.
The main goals of halo observation are to record all sightings as completely as possible (very different depending on time and possibility of the individual observers) and to register rare halo phenomena (usually occurring in halo phenomena, as there are still several possibilities or mysteries regarding the formation of some phenomena. Photographs provide the best basis for scientific evaluation.
The observations are recorded with a Halo Key to enable uniform evaluations. Two programs are available for data collection and evaluation:
