A warning can be sent to the warning list here. The prerequisite for an alert is that
- noctilucent clouds are visible
The intensity or spread of the noctilucent clouds does not matter here. The warning is sent via email. In the subject in case of a sighting, the location and time of the sighting should be entered, possibly also details about the NLC, such as "strong", "bright" or "weak". Additionally, the height of the NLC above the horizon in degrees should be provided.
Please do not additionally enter "nlc" or "noctilucent clouds". In the warning list, "[nlc]" is automatically added to the subject of each email, which should make clear to all members what the email is about.
Bremen 00:21 CEST weak 10 degrees
Important: This should be specified in the subject , not in the main text of the email.
The reason is that in Yahoogroups, advertising was temporarily placed at the beginning of the email, so only ads arrived as SMS. Currently, the advertising is back at the end of the email, but to be safe, the most important information should already be in the subject. Additional information can then be provided in the main text. For emails sent from mobile phones, it is often not possible to enter a subject. In this case, a note in the text is sufficient.
Since the list is accessible to everyone, an intentional false alarm cannot be completely ruled out. In this case, the sender will, of course, be immediately banned from the mailing list. If someone receives a false warning, please send another email to the list immediately, with the word "False alarm" in the subject.
Warnings can only be sent or received by members of the Yahoo NLC group!
Please do not send emails to the warning list if it is not about a warning!!! Every email to the list goes to many people and many of them forward these emails to their phones.
If there are any problems or further questions, please report in the
AKM Forum.
